Well, after 2 months home because of COVID-19 I finally decided to take a on a project I have been putting off for years. I have started organizing my photos by file type and year. My RAW folder alone has just over 50K images in it dating back to 2007. I'm really not sure what happened to the photos before that. I think they were on an external drive that died. I decided to do this now because I keep getting errors on my current 2GB external drive and this way when I move them to a new drive they are all sorted.
Going forward I need to be much more diligent on how I handle my file organization. I think the best way for me to keep things straight will be to sort shoots by keywords verses text names of shoots. One thing I've also done is to order a new 5TB external drive from a large local company that sells anything and everything you could probably ever want online. Why am I not using a name that everyone has already figured out? They aren't paying me for advertising, that's why.
Another new endeavor that have had to take on, though not by choice is that of teacher. My 6yo daughter has been home since they shutdown the schools in Washington on March 17th. After having to deal with the strain and stress of teaching one child I have decided that teachers need a lot more compensation than they get. Almost each day is a argument to get her to do the work and even harder to get her to do it neatly and not "half ass". Needless to say I have new found respect for teachers and all they do. I also feel I should apologize to every one of my teachers for what they had to put up with.
